Fashioned in the style of tales told long ago (circa 1060), this 8.5 x 11 children’s picture book is beautifully detailed with eighteen illustrations by Shane Morgan. My grandfather, Jacob, related a similar story to his grandchildren many times over, back in the 1960’s. I’m sure you’ll enjoy sharing it with your family. Suitable for ages 3 and older.
Here are a few notes I’ve received from readers:
“My four year old, Austin, doesn’t let me put it away at night. He insists on sleeping with your book.” Andy S, Albuquerque, NM
“Our son ‘Jake’ loves your story, especially since ‘Jacob’ is the main character’s name.” Daniel & Marsha S, Brooklyn Park, MN
“If I try to shortcut reading the story to them at bedtime my grandkids go nuts, ‘No, No, you forgot to read the part…’ Thanks for a great story, Jim!” Dick P, Billings, MT
Once upon a time, a little boy, named Jacob, took his father’s team of horses and wagon into the Dark Forest to gather firewood. Suddenly, a big scary giant stepped out from behind the trees where he’d been watching. He kidnapped the boy and forced him to spend the night in a small cave.
Jacob had to think of a way to outsmart the giant so he could escape and get back home.
Do you think you’d be clever enough to overcome someone so much bigger than you? You must read the tale to discover how the little boy accomplishes the dangerous deed…
